Our VAN has ears

Dear Jared,
Thank you for making me laugh today!
Love,
Mom

The Story
As I left my OB appointment today, I hit a cement beam and broke the driver side mirror and quarter panel of the door. I was so mad at myself, but very grateful I didn't hit another car. The boys were at my friend's house; Kate was so kind to watch them so I didn't have to take them with me. When I picked them up, Jared noticed something was wrong half way home. He was in mid sentence telling me about Jacob's trains that he played with when he screamed, "Mom, what did you do to the van's ears?"

That was a great way to smile, smile and chuckle, chuckle during a not so bright part of my day!

Switch Witch Fun

This year, the Switch Witch took all of our candy and brought the kids play doh. Elisabeth and Jared spent the entire Sunday afternoon making play doh creations with our cookie cutters and "googly" eyes. I think this was the best gift the Switch Witch has ever brought our children!

A Date with Kirk and Kate

We made some new friends in our ward: the Meyers! We have had fun getting to know each other recently and were finally able to go on a double date. We don't usually take pictures of stuff like this, but how funny that we all ended up in matching clothes for the night - girls in black, boys in orange. What was I thinking wearing kaki pants and not jeans?

Friday Night Lights

It has been a long time since either of us have been to a Friday night football game. I never even went to one in high school because our field didn't have lights. We went on a freezing cold night out to Goochland county to watch Warren Crowley, one of the YM that Jason works with at church. Warren's team is up for state champs and this was their last home game. Warren didn't get to play, but we sure had fun together............especially when we got home to drink some hot chocolate.

Oatmeal Bath

The boys played trucks in the backyard before lunch today. When the came inside, they were covered in dirt and mud. You could tell they had a lot of fun. We went straight to the tub for a bath and lunch. The boys loved it and their lunch mess was much easier to clean up.

Happy Halloween

One of our family traditions is the kids go trick-or-treating with dad on Halloween. They love to be with him for this special time. I love to hand out candy to the trick-or-treaters that come to our door.

Gayton Ward Trunk or Treat

MIA: The TIN MAN (he had to work late tonight) - our Wizard of Oz family was not complete without Daddy Tin Man, but it was still a fun night.

Cute Ethan

Things I love about my Ethan:
  • He is the most ticklish boy you ever met with the greatest laugh.
  • He cuddles with me before his nap and bedtime.
  • He can sing! Watch out American Idol fans - you haven't heard anything like ETHAN!
  • He says, "I love you too!" and gives me a big hug and kiss.
  • He blows on the oven when I tell him it is hot.

Movie Night with Turleys

Elisabeth, Jared, and Ethan had a movie date with their Turley cousins while Jason and I went to the Temple. We tried a different kind of temple trip this time. We left during nap time so the kids would sleep. We got to the Turleys around dinner time. Sandra and Josh were so kind to feed us dinner and watch the kids while we went to Temple. Elisabeth, Jared, and Ethan had so much fun with their cousins!Jason and I had a wonderful Temple date, especially knowing it will be our last time in the Temple together for the next few months since #4 is expected to arrive here soon.

We got back to the Turleys around 8:45PM, made a bed in the car for Elisabeth and Jared, and drove home while the kids were sleeping. It was a great way to go to the Temple, but really hard to get up the next morning for church since we didn't get home until midnight.
